For 124 years, Holy Name Convent has been dedicated to producing excellence, young women who are well-rounded in academics, extracurriculars, sports, character and faith. On October 8th, 2026, we gathered in the Marian Hall to celebrate the achievements of the 2025-2026 academic year at our annual Prizegiving Ceremony.
Similar to last year, our Master of Ceremonies, Mr Sahabdool, led us through a thought-provoking and inspiring ceremony, filled with laughter, awe, and pride. On behalf of all of the teaching and auxiliary staff at Holy Name, he shared a few meaningful words with the awardees, “If you haven’t heard it yet, we are so, so very proud of you”, which perfectly encapsulated the reason for gathering as a school community.
Moreover, in her principal’s address, Sr. Renée Hall O.P., reminded those present of the importance of the holistic education afforded to the young women of Holy Name Convent, as well as the value of hard work, quoting lyrics from Machel Montano’s ‘Encore’.
Our feature address came from Ms.Keisha Cruickshank, an accomplished woman who began her journey in Holy Name Convent. Her speech spoke of her love for music, and how Holy Name nurtured that love into something beautiful. Following this, she played and sang the Alma Mater, a song she co-wrote with past classmates. Ms. Cruickshank then went on to speak to the four different houses: St. Dominic’s, St. Catherine’s, St. Albert’s and St.Rose’s, and what their mottos represent.
In true Holy Name spirit, the audience was entertained by the HNC School Choir’s performance of ‘Calypso Music’ by David Rudder. They were conducted by Holy Name Past Pupil Ms.Diahann White. Following the Long Service Awards, the HNC Drama Club brought life to the stage and laughter to the audience with their piece “Two Handers: Double the Drama”, directed by Mrs. Nicole Wong Chong.
The ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks, delivered by Acting Vice Principal Mrs. Solange Baboolal-Bhawanie. Awardees, parents and specially invited guests left with feelings of accomplishment and pride.
