On November 17th 2024, our very own parang band, Dulce Nombre De Jesús, led by Mrs. Parker and supported by a management team of six Form 6 students, proudly represented us at the National Junior Parang Competition, El Corazón De Parranda, held at Holy Cross College.

PARANG PARANGA! That was the energy the team carried through weeks of preparation— a whirlwind of practice sessions, laughter, and hard work. The nerves were real, but so was their determination. From perfecting harmonies and mastering tricky cuatro chords to enduring aching hands from playing maracas and box bass, every rehearsal brought them closer as a team. On the day of the competition, the atmosphere was electric. The anticipation was palpable, but the team rallied as one, channeling all their effort into a performance that left a lasting impression. The cheers of the audience, the thrill of the stage, and the overwhelming sense of accomplishment when it was all over—truly unforgettable!

What makes the National Junior Parang Competition so special is the journey itself: the late-afternoon rehearsals, the shared jokes, and the feeling of being part of something bigger than themselves. We wholeheartedly congratulate our girls for placing sixth, and we encourage them to continue striving for the stars.
