Have you ever been bullied? Have you ever felt like you are worthless and can’t do anything? Do you ever feel like you don’t have a voice? Do you ever think that this would be the rest of your life and that things would never change? Do you believe that you will be a victim of bullying forever?
Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Bullying lowers one’s self confidence and ability to speak out for themselves. This happens not only in schools but everywhere in the world. With the internet and the different social medias, children are more at risk for bullying.
Now, the girls of form 6 decided to give awareness to this ongoing problem. The girls shared their own stories of bullying, what they experienced and coping with this recurring struggle. They banded together to shed light on the situations that people might be going through alone.
One of the things they highlighted on was the power of friends. They mentioned how their friends carried them through the fights and challenges they faced. They helped them block out the negativity and lies others say about them and focused on who they really are.
The girls encouraged the rest of school to take action against bullying. Many students came out and supported the caused by creating an inspirational board full of motivational quotes that would remind the school to stop bullying and ‘Love Only’.
These are some pictures taken of the notice board:
